About the Conference: The goal of this conference is to promote the academic study and artistic appreciation of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance among both an academic and non-academic audience. Designed to foster scholarship at the undergraduate level, several sessions will consist of papers by undergraduate students. Conference participants will have the opportunity to attend two plays by the acclaimed Shenandoah Shakespeare Express. A nationally known scholar in Medieval and Renaissance culture will deliver the keynote speech. Afterwards, participants will enjoy a medieval banquet while being entertained by madrigal singers. During the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops in such areas as dramatic performance, the making and illustrating of medieval manuscripts, and early European agriculture and engineering.
Located in the scenic rolling hills of southwest Wisconsin, Platteville is 30 minutes from Dubuque, Iowa, 30 minutes from Galena, Illinois, and 90 minutes from Madison, Wisconsin. Best known for its engineering program, UWP is also known for its annual Wisconsin Shakespeare Festival and its strong Liberal Arts program.
