Teenagers in the Renaissance
"Teenagers in the Renaissance" is my current working title for an international multidisciplinary conference I am organizing in Toronto, at the Centre for Reformation and Renaissance Studies, for the fall of 1999 (early November). The conference seeks to examine the place and role of youths aged 10-20 (approximately) in the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Some of the topics that might be discussed may include questions of: political influence/power (teenage rulers, ecclesiasts, etc.), religious life, youthful prodigies, military role, youths in literature, teenage writers or artists or musicians, puberty, sexuality, marriage, youth associations, etc.
Anyone wishing to present a proposal for a paper is asked to send me a one-page (or less) abstract and a short curriculum vitae (with university affiliation, address, telephone, fax, and email).
Please distribute to other lists and/or interested friends.
