Besides Shakespeare's secure place in the literary canon, the plays and characters of Shakespeare have constantly appeared as part of American popular culture. Papers are invited that explore how (and why) American appropriations of Shakespeare have bridged high and popular culture in fiction, advertising, internet, music, theatre, film, television, etc.
