The Twelfth Biennial Renaissance Conference at the University of Michigan-Dearborn will be held on October 11-12 in Fair Lane Conference Center, Henry Ford Estate. The Conference will focus on the relationships between the English Civil Wars and the literature of seventeenth-century England.

Papers are cordially invited. Submissions may focus on any aspect of the broad topic, including works that anticipate the wars as well as those that represent or recapitulate them. Papers may survey a particular issue throughout the period or concentrate on a specific author or work. Both essays in practical criticism and self-consciously theoretical approaches are invited. The preferred reading length is a time of twenty minutes, but both longer and shorter papers may be submitted. Only completed papers can be considered.

Papers must be of publishable quality, but not currently under consideration by a journal or book publisher; and they must not have been previously published or presented at a conference. All submissions will be refereed by a Steering Committee of distinguished scholars. It is anticipated that selected papers from the Conference will be published as a collection of essays, and Conference Organizers reserve the right of first publication of all papers presented at the Conference.

The deadline for the submission of completed papers is June 15, 1996.

Registration and housing information will be announced in September 1996.

Please send papers and inquiries to the Conference Organizers:
