Canadian Society for Renaissance Studies 1998

Call for Papers

The Canadian Society for Renaissance Studies will host its next meeting at the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences Federation of Canada (HSSFC) at the University of Ottawa, May 28-30, 1998.

The CSRS warmly invites its members to submit proposals on any Renaissance topic of interest to them in all literatures, drama, philosophy, theology, law, history, art, etc. At the 1997 annual meetings of the Society the following subjects were suggested:

1.Erasmus and His Legacy
2.Montaigne and the Construction of the Self
3.Manuscript Studies and the Passage between Manuscript and Print
4.Translation and Translation Theory
5.Amicitia
6.Renaissance Music
7.Edict of Nantes: 1598-1998
8.Open Topics

Papers should be about 20 minutes in delivery. Three copies of abstracts (approximately 500 words) should be mailed to arrive not later than January 6, 1998 (the Programme Committee will be very grateful for earlier submissions). Alternatively, submissions may be made by fax or e-mail. Please send submissions and any questions to:

As well as individual submissions, members are encouraged to propose and to organize sessions on topics they are interested in, including joint sessions with other Learned Societies. HSSFC has offered possible funding for joint sessions that can demonstrate interdisciplinarity.
